STS UNIVERSITY - Fall 2025

At Setting the Stage, we believe that Tech kids are Theater kids! This fall, we’ve got magic to do as we create the whimsical, imaginative world of Matilda Wormwood. Join us as we design set pieces, props and costumes that will be used in our final production of Matilda Jr.

Dates - Tuesdays, September 9, 16, and 23 at First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights

STAGING the SET: 4:00-5:00 pm
The set is a very important part of the design process for a show-- it not only gives directors and actors places where they can go, it literally "sets" the scene for the audience! In this class, we will learn the steps involved in bringing the world of Matilda to the stage. We will brainstorm, sketch and finally present our designs to the class!

Cost - $65 -includes materials

CREATING the COSTUMES: 5-6 pm
Putting on costumes is one of an actor’s favorite things, because it can help them transform into the role that they are playing. In this class, we will learn about the fundamentals of costume design! From color schemes to actual mock-ups, we will explore how costumes help actors create characters.
We will also develop a props list and discuss how to make the magic in Matilda come to life…

Cost - $65 -includes materials

Registration opens Saturday, August 23 at 8:00am.
